Searching Records. The process of finding records by category may not be
sufficiently specific to pinpoint the digital assets that are needed. Fortunately, as a database,
Cumulus can be searched using highly targeted search criteria. Any of the fields associated
with a record, such as its name, owner,or other criteria, can be searched using the
Collections>Find menu option (FIG. 14).

In addition to the fields that are provided as default entries in a new catalog, Cumulus
supports the addition of two types of custom fields: record and category(FIG. 15). Custom
record fields are used to add information that is pertinent to many or all of the records,
such as restrictive uses of an asset, or photo credit information. Custom categoryfields are
used to add information that will be applied to all records that are a part of a given
category. This would typically be used to enter customer-or job-specific data, such as
contact phone numbers and e-mail addresses, or deadline information. Custom record
fields are searchable while custom category fields are not.

Sharing Collections on the Web. Within a given work environmentit is likely that
most workerswill have their own copy of Cumulus 5, and will be able to share their
collections. At given times, however,it may be necessary to share collections with
customers, clients or others. This can be done by outputting a collection in HTML format
for presentation on the Web.This is accomplished by selecting the File>Output To HTML
menu option, which automatically generates the HTML code and, if selected, produces
JPEG copies of associated images (FIG. 16).

FIG.16: The Cumulus 5 user
can create HTML templates to
customize the appearance of
the collection on the Web.
